I wound up doing that sunset background TWICE, due to a !$&$#$#$
%&@%!$ program in Windows that Microsoft put there to “help” – which
kept locking up my system whenever I worked on image files or such.
(It’s called Findfast, and if you’re having trouble with your computer
freezing up for seemingly no reason – to the point that not even Control-Alt-Delete
will help – I’d recommend deleting every trace of the !@#^# pain.) *ahem*
anyway...
This is my first finished, non-chibi CG of a human. ^_^;
I think Dias needs a “Most Ignored By Fanartists” award; I see plenty of
Ashton, a little fewer of Leon, then a smattering of Claude and Rena, and
even Precis, but I haven’t seen anything of Dias. Seems odd, considering
trends among fans...seems usually the tragic badass bishounen are popular,
not pretty much ignored. (I don’t count Ashton as tragic...he’s damn
comedic when you think about it, no matter how serious he tries to be,
and who doesn’t adore Gyoro and Ururun?) After I technically “finished”
this image, I spent about fifteen minutes bit-diddling minor details.
Also had quite a few experiments in this picture, like the transparencies
for the smoke and Dias’s shadow, and the highlights in his hair, cloak,
etc. (Experiments done after practice with the different tools on
different pictures, most of which shall *never* be seen online.)
(I’ll probably do another fanart of Dias sooner or later, if only
to fight the specter of “Most Ignored”.) (Background: “Dias-sama!
If you don’t sit still I’ll never finish the picture!” *from behind
a tree, back to Atolm* “That’s the point.”)
Anou, just what are those metal things on his shoulder, anyway?
They don’t protect enough to be armor...for that matter, how do they attach
to the cloak? :P Makes no sense.
I sketched the image while going through my image archive on Kodaku
and listening to Winamp...I came across Dias’s character artwork just as
that sone came up, and the image just clicked of Dias at Lacour, when Rena
collars him to ask him to join (if you’re playing Rena’s game).

In this fading image
We all have our destiny
Sometimes life is a cruel friend
Sometimes that’s what we need
I’ll shade my eyes as the lights come on
I’ll sell my silence for a song
Now I won’t die if you walk away
But I may not live
Now I watch as the rain comes down
To purify this pain
When mountains crumble and stars collide
I am what remains
There are lessons that sadness can only teach
There are things that we must learn
Now I won’t die if you walk away
But I may not live
